Canada International Auto Show event will be held on February, 2012. The event is at once an announcement to the Canadian Car of the Year 2012. Before the show started, several finalists have been revealed.

In the category Utility of the Year, seemingly controlled by car manufacturers from Korea, namely Hyundai and Kia. For Hyundai choosen two variants, namely the Accent and Elantra, while for Kia, the Kia Optima.

As for other categories, the war between European and American car manufacturers such as re-occurred on the previous year, the BMW with the X3, and Dodge. Both of these manufacturers always compete annually closely to fight the Canadian Car of the Year 2012.

Of the overall total of finalists numbering 170 vehicles. Separated by 11 different categories, each vehicle will be grouped according to grade and type of each.
In determining who won the Car of the Year, the vote has involved 70 people across the Canadian automotive journalists. They will choose based on the categories that have been provided by the committee.
