FIFA World Cup 2010 Yellow Card Policy Change

FIFA to change policies related to the yellow card for the 2010 World Cup. The decision inspired a yellow card for Michael Ballack, to make the 2010 World Cup getting better and interesting.

Prior to this, the player will automatically get ban to play in one match if it has picked up a pair of yellow cards, even in two different games. This makes some famous name failed to appear in the final.

Perhaps we still remember the tears of Paul Gascoigne at the 1990 World Cup semi-final against Germany. He was rewarded a yellow card and certainly can not defend the UK in the final (if they qualify), because in previous games have awarded a yellow card.

The same thing happened to Michael Ballack, he was rewarded a yellow card in the semifinal against South Korea. With the addition of one card, he can only be a spectator as his colleagues perform at the 2002 World Cup final against Brazil.

Now there would no anything like it in South Africa. For the 2010 World Cup, a player will only be absent in the final if directly receive two yellow cards (will be red card), on the semifinal.

“Put simply, FIFA wants to provide an opportunity for the best players to play in the finals,” said FIFA spokesman Marius Schneider as reported by the Guardian.

So it certainly would not exist “other Ballack” in South Africa in 2010.
